Betsey Varney started playing violin at age 2 1/2 with the Betty Haag Suzuki group. She continued playing all through school and graduated from The New England Conservatory of Music with a Violin Performance Degree.

She then went on to study with Schmuell Oshkinozi, the first violinist of the Vemeer Quartet.
